Polena Kolia Petersen is a Greek-Danish dance artist performing, making and facilitating dance. Her work centers around dancing as a rite and a riot exploring choreographies of resistance and seeking to nurture more sustainable, resilient and critical communities through participation and community engagement. Improvisation and endurance-based movement, queering up Greek folk dances, work with text, voice and collages of living archives weave the fabrics of her choreographic material. Her practice requests the ongoing reassembling of the commons through the body that dares to move and be moved by dancing. She has amongst others danced in the works of Romeo Castellucci (IT), Andrei Serban (RO), Beyond Darkness (DK), Tzeni Argyriou (GR) and created work for Dance Days Chania (GR), Norrdans (SWE), FLUX Laboratory (GR), Ticino in Danza (SW), E75 Oulu European Capital of Culture (FIN). She is a member of the educational collective InDanceEdu.
End. Repeat. Escape. Delete. No. One more attempt. Before you relapse back to business as usual once again. A true amnesiac millennial. Can the movement, the voice of one body reverse this game? If every movement is a step closer to the end, how do we move? A dance performance-ode to the generation of loneliness and vanity. An allegory for the choice to move as an opponent of a futureless present, a cry out to the collectives that we have lost.
