“All the things one has forgotten scream for help in dreams”
Elias Canetti
What happens in the case that everything given could become forgotten? How do we reapproach the past and the way with which we learn to acquire knowledge?
In this piece an invisible web is being weaved between narration, sound, movement, and space, creating a unique universe, in which there exists a cancellation along with the desire for change, the shadows of the past with the totality of the present moment, the plunge and the breath anew. The lighthouse as a beacon of the performance defines the space, overwhelms the moving body and the action, is being present, the leading agent as it harmonizes speech and movement. At times, it opposes the dancer’s body, at others it magnetizes it, attempting to bury the body with its stories. The principal theme comprises in memories, narratives, unknown stories surrounding the lighthouse and the sea, memory and lethe, the way through which we learn our history and what we take for granted. The body comes face to face with the feeling of insurmountability as it is called to renegotiate events and values, placed in the realm of non-time and the immensity of the landscape.
Aide in this journey is music and the person who produces it; with the lighthouse “doing its duty”.
