Compañía X emerged in September 2018 and created its first piece under the name “Y ahora qué?”. In 2019, the company premiered and presented this piece and its long format through a one year tour along different festivals and spaces in Costa Rica, Mexico and Panama. Since 2020, back in Spain, they took part in several festivals and theaters programs such as Beta Pública, Pies Para Qué Los Quiero, Cervandantes, Teatro Lagrada, Teatro de la Estación, La Fundición de Sevilla, El fin de los días perdidos, among others.
In 2021, they premiered their 3rd piece, “Tómbola”, at the Teatro de la Estación in Zaragoza.
In 2023 they continue participating in different festivals and alternative spaces and they keep working on a new piece called « Iocari ». Simultaneously, they take part in other kinds of events like book launches, poetry festivals…
The company has received the support of diverse entities and residence spaces to create its works, such as Dantzagunea, La Fundición de Bilbao, Centro Coreográfico La Gomera and Sede de la Compañía Nacional, among others, and also the economic backing of Zaragoza City Council, the Etxepare Basque Institute, the Government of Aragon, Bitamine Faktoria, Teatro de la Estación, Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa… to carry out different residences, tours and productions of its pieces.
The piece emerges from the need to narrate. From the discussion with each other about the passage of time, the passing of the years. From the fact of not being able to erase out of our minds the question of “what will come next?”. We decided to talk about the way we got caught getting started and giving up something over and over again. We concluded that getting over one’s own issues is an indispensable condition to create and grow together. And we achieved to create a link between three, very different people, who got the same situation and status. From which they push themselves into the unknown, towards a quite uncertain future, which develops into the “And now what?”
