KYS improvisation is a method aiming at moving bodies of all dance styles and levels who wish to discover or flourish their improvisational identity.

With observation as the main tool, in this workshop we will sharpen our kinetic perception, we will get in touch with our deeper, spontaneous movement, and in a safe environment, we will approach the intimacy of exposure, both at the level of performance as well as people crossing our self-limitations.

By turning each “stumble” into the next move, individually and as a group, we will develop our mental, emotional, and physical endurance, transform ourselves into an inexhaustible creative source and communicate in a dancing language with a different form for each but a common sense for all!

Barbara Bardaka studied at SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance) where she discovered her love for creation, improvisation, performing, and research. She then followed teachers who inspired her, establishing her journey around improvisational. She has been invited to residencies in Greece and abroad while participating with her creations at festivals of Kinitiras, “Dance Days Chania”, Kalamata International Dance Festival, DLR, Athens Video Dance Project, etc. As a performer, she has collaborated, among others, with João Cidade & Ioulia Zacharaki. Since 2021 she has been developing and teaching KYS improvisation to professionals & amateurs.
