Dance Days Chania and U(R)TOPIAS Academy of Choreography have formed a new collaboration and offer artistic residency at the festival during which 2 selected choreographers for 8 days will deepen their creative process, presenting the result during the 15th Dance Days Chania with free entrance to the public at the former French School. Greek choreographers in their first creative steps have the opportunity to develop in time, enrich, adapt and present in premiere form, their works as they were originally composed in Elefsina for the years 2024-2025.
‘Lunar Seaga’ is an ongoing attempt to a Site Specific recreation of a dream. The city of Elefsina stands as a starting point for a 2-year research around the notion of escaping reality, in such places, landscapes and circumstances of intense contradictions. The piece dives into ways of human attraction towards the unfamiliar and physicalities that arise in states of transition, acknowledging global evolution as a self-annihilating process. Premiered in June 2025 at the historical Old Oil Mill Factory of Elefsina, part of the second Promenade by ‘Urtopias Academy of Choreography’ of Patricia Apergi and Aerites Dance Company within the frame of 2023 Elefsis European Capital of Culture.
