Barbara Bardaka studied at SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance) where she realized her love for creation, improvisation, performing and research. She then followed teachers who inspired her such, establishing her personal path mostly regarding improvisation. She has been hosted in residencies in Greece and abroad, while she participated with her own creations in festivals of Kinitiras, Dance Days Chania, DLR, Kalamata International Dance Festival, Athens Video Dance Project etc. From 2021 he develops and teaches the KYS improvisation method to professionals & amateurs in various festivals, professional dance schools and studios in Greece & Cyprus. In the current period she is in collaboration with Ioulia Zaharaki of their joint project”AMFI”, with a grant from him Ministry of Culture that will premier in May 2024 at Thessaloniki. https://www.instagram.com/barbara_bardaka/?hl=en
Ioulia Zacharaki graduated from the State School of Dance and since 2017 she works with the company of the internationally choreographer Anton Lachky, as well as others choreographers in Greece, presenting their works in festivals and theaters. Has found her inner source of movement and creativity with the help of teachers who inspired her, martial arts and personal observation. She has taught her practice RESET to dance professionals and amateurs in Athens, at the Kalamata International Festival in the section “KEEP DANCING” and at Studio SYN-KINISI in Chania. Her works have presented at the Kalamata International Dance Festival, at Dance Days Chania, at Dance Laboratory Rhodes and at the “Anoichta Pania” festival. She is currently in collaboration with Barbara Bardaka in the framework of their project “AMFI”, materialized after a grant from the Ministry of Culture that will premier in May 2024 at Thessaloniki.

Dear Friends,
We are Ioulia & Barbara and together we created a common space where similar and differentelements can coexist, each with its own purpose, in a choreographic composition that we call “ΑΜFI” (yes, you got it right, from preposition “amphi-, which in greek means between two places).
The space of AMFI is not necessarily characterized by security, predictability or continuity. Here, we call each other with a word, squeal, whisper, and our voices co-exist until they become a chorus, a parody, rarely a tragedy. Through our own pathway, we will guide you through our story, in which you might see yours too . CAUTION! Leaving the show, there is a possibility that you will be “stuck” with a certain phrase, known and familiar to everyone.
During this performance, we will create visible spaces, where “on-stage” and “off-stage” acquire the same importance. Stages that as performers we seek to exist with sincerity, calmness, lightness and humor, following our artistic instincts and looking for an approach to relationships beyond the obvious.
