Young Won Song & Diego de la Rosa
Partnering
Who is the workshop addressed to?
The workshop is addressed to anyone that has experience in any sort of dance, especially contemporary dance, physical theatre or any performing arts.
What kind of dance experience should the participants have?
We would recommend that people have at least some sort of experience in dance, preferably an intermediate level or some experience in movement or other techniques that engage the body.
Young-Won Song
Young-won started her daily dance training at Chungnam Art High school in South Korea in 2009 and in 2011 she continued her education at SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance) in Austria. During her study at SEAD, she participated in an exchange program with Tisch School of the Arts/NYU in 2014. After that she joined SEAD’s Bodhi Project in the 2015/2016 company year which she toured internationally with. She worked with choreographers such as Etienne Guilloteau, Jukstapoz (Christine Gouzelis and Paul Blackman), Sita Ostheimer, Mark Lorimer and Eldad Ben Sasson. In October 2016 she became a member of Frantics.
Diego de la Rosa
His first contact with dance was in the streets of Valladolid in 2005.
During his first years of dance, Diego traveled around Spain and Europe, attending numerous events and championships of Urban Dance. In 2012, he decided to move to Berlin where he started a new chapter of his life and co-founded the company Frantics. He currently is a dancer and choreographer of the company. In 2014, Diego started an intensive program of Contemporary and Classical Dance in ”Tanzfabrik” where he was able to develop his skills as a dancer. To complement his dance, he added to his formation some theatre, improvisation, release techniques, acrobatics and martial arts.
Which elements/techniques will participants learn?
• Repertory from our duet “you.IT.me”
• How to create their own material, not only learning by repetition but also using tools to develop your their material with creative tasks
• Improvisation task and theatrical task, how to use emotions and feelings while performing rather than executing movement only with technique
• How to improvise using different qualities and letting the mind free of judgment
• Tips & concepts that help to succeed as dancers and artists
• How to work with a partner and how to create a connection in the space and with the other people while performing
Where is the focus?
Our workshops always starts with an improvisation while also engaging the body with short set material to warm up. During the whole time, one of the goals is to connect with the group as well as with our own body. We play little games that permit us to work hard while having fun, and we also go deeper with different concepts where performance skills have to develop in order to get a better understanding of the workshop. Our goal is to bring people in different states of mind, with the idea of not only executing movement but also engaging fully into the material. We also like to give a lot of space for creation where people are able to use different task to create their own material and to develop their own style. We will teach choreographies in which we will apply the elements we passed through during the class, where each one of us will add his own personality and movement quality to express himself individually.
