The absence of physical contact constitutes an existential threat for the human civilisation, short term or midterm, creating an unorthodox scenario, that foresees a “somatic breakdown” of human society. The art of dance, during this pandemic crisis, has suffered a major blow, precisely because it is an art form which pursues the physical and mental contact, and along with the other art forms, is being threatened socially and politically.

The discussion will raise questions revolving around views on the human body and its relations, but also its reactions, in the culturally challenging circumstances which we experience today.

As part of Dance Days Chania Festival and upon the completion of the Video Dance 2020 section (screenings on July 27th and 28th, starting at 9:30 pm), at the Open-Air Municipal Cinema “Kipos”, in Chania, an open discussion will be taking place in the same space, on Wednesday, July 29th at 9 pm, under the title “From Body to Body”, with Aliki Chiotaki (Videographer and curator of the Video Dance section) and Sofia Falierou (Choreographer and Artistic Director of the Dance Days Chania Festival). The discussion will be moderated by Myrto Kontomitaki (Museologist and Art Historian).
