Álvaro Silva is a dancer and performer from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, in the south of Andalusia, living between Seville and Brussels.

At an early age, he came into contact with dance through Break dance, a discipline he has been practicing ever since.

Alvaro studied at the Centro Andaluz de la Danza (CAD) in Seville, where he trained techniques such as Graham, Release, Limon and floor work. He has also studied Andalusian folkloric dances.

Among the teachers with whom he has complemented his dance education are David Zambrano, Thomas Hauert, Jennifer Monson, Mark Tompkins, Yoshiko Chuma, Hisako Horikawa and Julyen Hamilton.

Alvaro has worked as a dancer with the companies El Punto Danza Teatro (Seville), Isabelle Beernaert (Netherlands), Cía. Kalpanarts ( Netherlands – Belgium), a project that fuses traditional Indu Bharatanatyam dance with contemporary dance and with David Zambrano.

With David Zambrano being his mentor, Alvaro continues to explore performance and dance teaching based on intense studies with him (since 2014). He has been training Flying-low and Passing-Through extensively at David Zambrano’s Tic-Tac Art Centre, as well as instant composition and Couple dancing around Europe.

He has assisted David Zambrano during several Flying-low and Passing-Through workshops in Brussels and Barcelona 2019 and 2021. She has taught workshops and classes for professionals at Tic Tac Art Centre (Brussels), Conservatorio Profesional de Danza “Antonio Ruiz Soler” (Sevilla, Spain), Conservatorio Profesional de Danza “Maribel Gallardo” (Cádiz, Spain), Conservatorio Superior de Danza de Málaga Ángel Pericet (Málaga), Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Valencia, Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Granada, etc.

Recently, Álvaro has presented his first contemporary dance pieces as a creator, Euro, The beautiful conversation of hands and La escalera.

Premiered and programmed at the Centro de Iniciativas Culturales de la Universidad de Sevilla, La Cuarta Pared (Madrid), Teatro da Figura (Faro, Portugal), Teatro del Sauzal (Canary Islands), Tic Tac Art Centre (Brussels), etc. Currently, he continues to perform in numerous national and international festivals, as well as guest teacher in Professional and Superior Conservatories, teaching contemporary dance techniques, Flying Low, Passing Through and improvisation.

The EURO project emerges from the impulse to create a piece naked in its nature, a personal itinerary made of pleasure and learning.

The piece travels continuously through infinite paths in curves, straight lines and pauses. Each letter of the word EURO has its own personality and its own story to tell. EURO is the landscape itself.

The performance is a varied deconstruction of folk dances, partner dances, acrobatics and conversations translated into physicality; reconstructed and revitalized to form a personal, direct dance, which attracts by its ability to immerse itself in the extraordinary in an authentic way, in an eloquent, strong, visceral and deep dialogue.

Its culmination is the interconnectivity of the dance with the audience.

Choreography, performance: Alvaro Silva
Supported by: La PAD ( Asociación de Profesionales de la Danza de Andalucía), Tic Tac Art Centre.
