An ‘open rehearsal’-themed presentation in which a Bolero-named duet is prepared, featuring two dancers who have unintentionally become simple tools for the artist’s ‘genius’. But as inspiration wanes and choreography stalls, the collaboration turns tense, the humour dark, and the dance dangerous. Bolero is a public invitation into the daily grind of creative processes – combining black comedy, relationship dynamics, and different acrobatic disciplines. Choreographer Jarkko Mandelin’s latest creation was recently featured at the 2025 Assembly Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
