NEST is a site-specific dance and theater performance for street and non-conventional spaces, directed by Belgian creator Marie Gyselbrecht.
A dialogue between outdoor arts and contemporary creation that inquires about the limits and the freedoms of public space.
What if our privacy is forced to exist in public?
Our body as a nest, our container of intimacy.
The need to have a safe place to turn away of the outside world.
The car, a stylized object, represents one of the most powerful symbols of our civilization and our freedom.
To think of a car is to think of speed;
in drama, luxury and desire;
in the union of publicity and the consumption of goods in a technological age;
in the shared experience of moving together through an elaborate sign-posted landscape…
But also in the possibility that this symbol of freedom and wealth becomes a sign of poverty and a refuge for our intimacy.
The last refuge before the street.

NEST puts three characters (a couple and a security guard), a car and a landscape in play.
A cinematic space where the performers combine the multiple possibilities of their physicality and the relationship between them to unfold a non-linear story in the twilight zone between humor and tragedy.
