ELELEI was born in 2019 from the collaboration between the artists Sabrina Gargano (Barletta, Italy) and Rafa Jagat (Valencia), bringing together the idea of creating their own dance and theatre courses and putting everything in one place as a disciplinary language.
Motivated by telling stories, by wondering the why of things, and why the public could assimilate them, his first work A CIEGAS was born in 2020, winning the First Prize at the MAIS IMAGINARIUS festival in 2021 and the PUBLIC AWARD in the 35th International Choreographic Competition Hannover 2021.
In addition to the work of A CIEGAS, in January 2021, they created the physical theatre film MAY YOU LISTEN? belonging to the formation of the young company of Jasmin Vardimon JV2 in England, and premiered in May 2021. The next year, they were invited again to create a new work called MARATHON.
SOY MADERA (I’M WOOD) premiered at MAIS IMAGINARIUS on May 26, Santa Maria da Feira, in 2022, and was co-produced by the same festival.
The third creation, TOO MUCH, premiered in March ‘24 in Barcelona. Show co-produced by Dansa Metropolitana.
It has happened to everyone, at least once, to have someone who surprises you by covering your eyes and asking you to guess who he/she is.
A simple game that kids or very close people play with us to make us question, but what if all of a sudden this turns into something else?
An external event causes a person to change their emotional state.
That event covers your eyes, depriving you of seeing what is outside and perhaps giving you a chance to see what’s there inside.
A piece where dance and theatre, with a light touch of humour, come together to tell a story that is very close to the audience.
The act of covering the eyes of a friend who has to discover who becomes captivating and intriguing. The game unfolds a constant conflict where something much deeper comes to the surface.
