The piece ”RU(i)NS” of the Choreographer Athanasia Kanellopoulou in collaboration with Zfin Malta Dance Ensemble is a dance theatre piece which reflects fragments of our trembling, edgy world. Bodies in crisis, exiled, in search of the instant moment of their serenity. Moments of a shaken society that tries to resist and stay united. Bodies that are in search of the cell of their History, constructing the deconstruction.The landscape of a no-mans-land lies underneath us, within us. How many borders and lines must we cross to reach home? How many stones must we carry to build a new life? How many circles must we create to find the buried History?
“I must Create a System,
or be enslav’d by another Man’s.
I will not Reason and Compare;
my business is to Create.” (William Blake)
This is a work that explores the cyclic pattern of creation and destruction, construction and deconstruction, of life and death as determined by man and the history of the world. RU(i)N is a work that is defined by ones sense of home that energetically draws us within a community that ultimately (through power) disrupts and destroys.
