In a moment suspended in time we share a journey through our past, present and future. The knowledge of who we are is lost, yet our instinctual consciousness has the power to recall it. The traces of our ancestors unfold stories that make us witness the birth of many cycles, they are a unison voice that whispers of origins and ends, appearing disguised as dust and rubble or cold moist soil.
Are we able to recognize strength in unexpected places? “Selva” is a densely packed jungle grown out of the path women have been treading for the past 100 years of our society.
“Selva” is about our connection to our ancestors, our understanding of our roots. It is about women and their stories in our society. It is about memories, journeys and of how – when stripped away – these memories can shed a light onto a path that reaches an inner layer of our Self, our intuition and instinct. Our research began with the book “Women who run with the Wolves” by Clarissa Pinkola Estés, which made us curious as to the possibility of telling a story where three feminine archetypes would meet and interact: the Old, the Mother and the Young. These archetypes reflect a collective, inherent and unconscious trait that is part of every woman. A story that reflects many stories develops into a unison voice travelling through time. Furthermore we dive into the following thought: what does it mean to be, to have and to connect to a mother and her ancestry? A reaction to this question is reflected in the body as we feel ideas, think about feelings and move between moments of fragility and power. “Selva” is a manifesto that honours our deepest, wildest and most primal emotions.
