Mavin Khoo – Ballet Class

Mavin Khoo is Artistic Director of ZfinMalta Dance Ensemble, where he brings a fresh approach to dance in a repertory context. He is internationally recognised as a dance artist, teacher, choreographer and artist scholar. Mavin studied Bharata Natyam with the legendary dance maestro, Padma Shri Adyar K.Lakshman in India, Cunningham technique at the Cunningham studios in New York and Classical Ballet.

Dance Days Chania Workshop

Most recently, Mavin was rehearsal director for Akram Khan’s ‘Giselle’ at English National Ballet. His classes express a full-bodied approach to classical ballet technique with fluidity, dynamic traveling and emphasis on bringing out the authenticity of participants. The workshop is suitable for professional or vocational level dancers.

Mavin Khoo is internationally recognised as a dance artist, teacher, choreographer and artist scholar. He studied Bharata Natyam with the legendary dance maestro, Padma Shri Adyar K.Lakshman in India, Cunningham technique at the Cunningham studios in New York and Classical Ballet under Marian St. Claire, Michael Beare, Nancy Kilgour, Paul Lewis, Ayumi Hikasa, Raymond Chai and Tory Jestyn. As a contemporary dance artist he has worked with Wayne McGregor, Akram Khan, Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company and others. Commissioned works include creations for Venice Biennale, Canada Dance Festival and Royal Ballet Artists Development Initiative.

He acts as Rehearsal Director to Akram Khan Company and has been Artistic Director of ZfinMalta since 2014.
