Ο σύγχρονος χορός του Serge Arthur Dodo είναι ένα πραγματικό ταξίδι στη χορογραφική του κουλτούρα.
Εξερευνά τους ιβοριανούς urban και παραδοσιακούς χορούς, τους οποίους αποδομεί και αναπλαισιώνει μέσα από τις κινήσεις του.
Εκπαιδευμένος στην τεχνική Acogny ως απόφοιτος της École des Sables, καταφέρνει να συγχωνεύσει αυτή τη γνώση και την τεχνογνωσία του ως νέος χορογράφος από την Ακτή Ελεφαντοστού, ριζωμένος στην κουλτούρα του αλλά ανοιχτός σε νέες ευαισθησίες και προσεγγίσεις της κίνησης, ικανός να δώσει μια αυθεντική και συγκεκριμένη γραφή στο χορό μας σήμερα.
Επιπλέον, η εμπειρία του και η επαφή του με τη μέθοδο της Pina Bausch με την 4ετή συμμετοχή τους ως χορευτής στην παράσταση «le sacre du printemps» της Pina Bausch, του δίνει μια νέα προοπτική στην προσέγγισή του για τη μετάδοση και τη διδασκαλία του χορού.
Τα εργαστήρια απευθύνονται τόσο σε επαγγελματίες όσο και σε ερασιτέχνες χορευτές.
Serge Arthur Dodo is a choreographer and dance artist from Ivory Coast who first started in street dance competitions.
After graduated with an art degree in Ivory Coast, Serge joined the renowned ‘Ecole des sables’ at the National Art Institute in Senegal to complete his training and had the opportunity to learn from Germaine Acogny, the mother of African contemporary, Andrea Boll, Gilles Jobin, Gabriel Smeets, Patrick Acogny and Nora Chipaumire (USA – Zimbabwe).
He is the artistic director and choreographer of his own dance company called King’Art and has developed several pieces with his company in the last decade, as well as choreographing for TV shows such as ‘The Voice Afrique Francophone’ and ‘The Voice Kids Africa’. He was a lecturer of Afro-contemporary classes at the University AHK of Amsterdam in the Expanded Contemporary Dance department between 2018-2020.
Serge is currently a member of the international African cast that reinterprets Pina Bausch’s piece ‘The Rite of Spring’ (collaboration between Pina Bausch foundation, Ecole des Sables and Sadler’s Wells).
